To improve the sound system we first had to understand the customers requirements, in relation to the results he wanted. Having established that he loved Jazz music we quickly decided on a combination of Rainbow CS265 Vandium Plug 2 way component speakers for the front doors, and a set of Hertz HSK163L 3 way components for the rear. The challenege here was that as the vehicle was a Mulliner Park Ward limousine it had seperate front and rear sound systems, and as everything had to look standard when we had finished, we had to contend with a number of potential acoustic problems. To allow some fine tuning of the set up we also installed an Audio Control EQL processor which gave a degree of control over both front and rear speaker equalisation adjustment seperately. The end result was a magnificent sounding vehicle with both sets of speakers powered by a Hertz HP4 amplifier discreetly mounted into the boot behind a drop down trim panel.
The vehicle originally came supplied from Mulliner Park Ward with an extensive, amplified system as "standard" that we had to remove, to allow the reinstallation of the new bespoke components which just goes to prove that even in a vehicle costing £300,000 when new the audio experience was sadly lacking. In the rear there was a TV and a Video player which we connected up to a new JVC DVD player and a DVB Tuner.
Upon hearing the system for the first time during the handover the customer commented that "I am actually hearing things in the recordings that I haven't heard before" Praise indeed from a man who is used to listening to music at home on high end audio systems.
